Rio Nightlife Guide for Sunday, April 7, 2019

We have the top three picks for this Sunday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.
LIVE:
Dire Straits Legacy @ Vivo Rio (Centro) – Dire Straits Legacy is a constantly evolving project that moves beyond the cliché of a ‘reunion’ or tribute band, with the sole aim to keep alive the memory of timeless songs like ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ ‘Sultans of Swing,’ ‘Money for Nothing,’ and many more.
Many members of Dire Straits have joined the project during the years, but in 2016 Alan Clark joined the band. Clark is the historic keyboardist for Dire Straits from 1980 to 1985. Alongside Alan Clark is Phil Palmer (musical direction / guitar / voice) who worked with Dire Straits from 1990 to 1992, and Jack Sonni (guitar) who played with the band from 1985 to 1988 during the time of the launch and tour of the album ‘Brothers in Arms.’ They are also joined by renowned saxophonist Mel Collins, a member of Dire Straits from 1983 to 1985, and plenty of special guests.
Tickets are between R$140 – R$380 and doors open at 9PM.
Dire Straits Legacy – Avenida Infante Dom Henrique 85 – Centro

They will be blending Latin styles like reggaeton, and cumbia, providing an upbeat soundtrack to what is almost guaranteed to be a stylish and sophisticated way to spend a Sunday evening.
Tickets are available from R$40 and the evening begins at 11PM.

LIVE:
Choro da Glória @ Museu da República (Catete) – This is the fourth edition of Choro da Glória at the Museu da República, one of the most picturesque locations in Rio. The previous editions were a great success, with lots of music and high spirits.
The Choro da Glória originates from the ‘roda do choro’ (circle of musicians playing choro – a genre similar to samba) that took place for almost five years every Wednesday on Rua Benjamin Constant. For everyone’s convenience and comfort there will be food and drink available on the premises.
This free event starts at 4PM.
