Sunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Iconic 1990s grunge band Pearl Jam returns to perform live in Rio de Janeiro at the famed Maracanã Stadium tonight.
Consisting of members Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready, Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament, and Matt Cameron, Pearl Jam last performed in Brazil as a group during the 2013 Lollapalooza music festival in São Paulo and Vedder was last in Rio during May of last year, playing two shows as part of a solo tour.
Since the band’s formation in 1990, Pearl Jam has released ten studio albums and has sold an estimated sixty million albums worldwide.
They are known for singles that include “Jeremy“, “Alive“, “Even Flow”, “Daughter“, “Go”, “Spin the Black Circle”, “Last Kiss”, and “Just Breathe / Got Some.” They are also well known for their political and social activism and live covers and songs that address current issues faced by the bands’ fans around the world.

It’s time once again for the best of house, electro, and pop as the twelve-hour Duo party returns to Gávea’s chic 00 (Zero Zero) club. Sundays are all about samba and soccer at Lapa’s Leviano bar. Every week beginning at 5PM the venue plays live games on their screens with samba dancers following the matches and the group Samba Di Buteco playing classics of the genre, including works by Arlindo Cruz, Zeca Pagodinho and João Nogueira, among others.
