We have the top three picks for this Thursday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

PARTY:
Veneno Disco Club @ Casa da Matriz (Botafogo) – The most classic alternative Thursday in the city is back to warm your summer even more. With more than thirteen years of celebration, more than 600 parties thrown so far, it goes without saying that fun is guaranteed.

DJs Beto Artista and friends will be playing all the best in pop, rock, and indie hits from the eighties and nineties.

This night begins at 11PM and it is free entry until midnight with your name on the event wall. Otherwise, tickets are between R$15-R$50 thereafter.

DRINKS:
International Stand Up Comedy Competition @ Rayz (Ipanema) – A special Christmas stand up comedy competition in English featuring ten comedians from Canada, the UK, the United States and Brazil.

Each comedian has five minutes on stage to make the audience laugh as much as possible, with the public then voting to decide which two go into a final comedy shoot-out for 90 seconds each – with the winner then decided by audience applause.

This evening begins at 8:30PM and tickets are between R$30-R$40.

LIVE:
Jazz às Quintas @ Cazota (Lapa) – Come and enjoy some jazz every Thursday in the charming Cazota Bar, in Lapa. The band is led by expatriate British musician Tom Ashe, and they play traditional New Orleans jazz covers.

To complement the sound, the bar is very charming, with polite and helpful staff and an excellent menu. The music starts at around 8:30PM and there is an artistic cover charge of R$10.

Casa Momus (Lapa)
Run by two Italian expats, Momus’ interior design is already worth the experience. Among Momus’ highlights are its carefully prepared classic drinks, like the bloody mary (R$27), the pisco sour (R$28) and the negroni (R$28).

Originally inaugurated in Paris, the boutique hostel and bar offers the perfect environment for enjoying a drink and a snack in style – specially on Fridays and Saturdays, when DJs spin on the house.

Pavão Azul (Copacabana)

Blue Agave (Ipanema)
Blue Agave in Ipanema is a great place for Mexican food, strong drinks and watching the latest domestic and international sports. They have English-speaking staff and is a popular expat hangout in Ipanema. Be sure to check out Blue Agave in Copacabana also for a great night out.

Flashback (Ipanema)
Flashback is a high-end restaurant with plenty of classical music and photos decorating the walls. Tonight, between 7PM and 9PM the restaurant will serve a happy hour with two for one on caipivodkas and Stella Artois. The caipivodkas are made fresh with either lime, strawberry or passionfruit as well as additional herbs added in for a taste explosion.
