PARTY:
Pré-Carnaval Samba Independente dos Bons Costumes @ Fundição Progresso (Lapa) – Every Thursday the famous Lapa landmark of Fundição Progresso hosts ‘Samba Independente dos Bons Costumes,’ and this Thursday, they’re putting on a special Pre-Carnival party!

Guests include the Transantosa ‘bateria’ (drum section) and the Agytoê ‘bloco’ (street party) who are sure to make this a night filled with music, dancing, color and good times.

Tickets are between R$10-R$15 and the party gets started at 9PM.

PARTY:
Delícia de Verão @ Canastra Bar (Ipanema) – This summer, one of the most popular bars in Rio, Canastra, have decided to do something different. By teaming up with Amazzoni Gin they are combining the most delicious drinks and DJs of the city with weekly club nights right below their award-winning bar in the basement where it all started.

This week it’s the turn of Camões and Gabriel Schettini (Festa até as 4) to bring their hottest tracks to this incredibly popular event.

This is a free party which begins at 9PM.

PARTY:
Silvan Galvão e Carimbloco @ Espaço Catete (Catete) – Silvan Galvão and the Carimbloco, once again, will be bringing all of their good energy from the North-Eastern state of Pará to Espaço Catete, with lots of music, super high energy and plenty of pre-Carnival fun!

Musician Silvan Galvão acts as the leader and founder of Carimbloco, a bloco that features Amazonian rhythms focused on the carimbó. Already at its debut in the carioca Carnival of 2017 the bloco attracted more than 2,000 people in the Aterro do Flamengo. In 2018, there were 4,000 people present. Today the bloco includes around 100 members, and has already spawned a sister bloco at the São Paulo Carnival.

This is a free event which begins at 5PM.

Casa Momus (Lapa)

Blue Agave (Ipanema)
Blue Agave in Ipanema is a great place for Mexican food, strong drinks and watching the latest domestic and international sports. They have English-speaking staff and is a popular expat hangout in Ipanema. Be sure to check out Blue Agave in Copacabana also for a great night out.

Flashback (Ipanema)
Flashback is a high-end restaurant with plenty of classical music and photos decorating the walls. Tonight, between 7PM and 9PM the restaurant will serve a happy hour with two for one on caipivodkas and Stella Artois. The caipivodkas are made fresh with either lime, strawberry or passionfruit as well as additional herbs added in for a taste explosion.
