We have the top three picks for this Thursday, and below there is a list of bars and lounges that are always a good option.

LIVE:
Show de Verão da Mangueira @ Vivo Rio (Flamengo) – Chico Buarque, Maria Bethania, Alcione, Leci Brandão, Mart’nália and Pretinho da Serrinha come together to perform on the same stage in celebration of one of Rio’s most beloved samba schools: Mangueira.

The traditional Mangueira Summer Show arrives for its 16th edition and also counts on the special participation of the Mangueira ‘bateria’ (drum section) featuring some traditional samba ‘enredos’ (thematic parades) and performances especially created for this show.

Tickets are between R$140 – R$400 and the night starts at 9:30PM.

PARTY:
Groove Nation @ Fosfobox (Copacabana) – This is a brand new party launching at Rio’s famous nightclub Fosfobox. Felipe Fella and Luca di Napoli have joined forces to bring a night of pure groove to the dancefloor, featuring some of the city’s top DJs, as well as special guests from around the world.

This week the line-up includes, on the main dancefloor, TropiCals, Du Bonitz, Luca Di Napoli, Felipe Fella, and Dessanti. While keeping the Fosfobar dancing will be Allana Valentina and Victor Costa.

Tickets are between R$20-R$40 and the night gets going at 11PM.

Hamilton de Holanda @ Circo Voador (Lapa) – Carnival is almost here and Hamilton de Holanda is putting on a special show with a host of guest appearences.

Baile do Almeidinha will be getting the crowd in the mood, plus, of course, Hamilton da Holanda and his band A Magnífica, which will also feature the ‘Bateria Furiosa’ of G.R.E.S. Acadêmicos do Salgueiro. All this plus, direct from Lebanon, the percussionist Rony Barrak, and for more music before and after the show, two sets courtesy of DJ Lencinho.

Tickets are between R$30-R$60 and the night starts at 9PM.

Pavão Azul (Copacabana)
Pavão Azul is a lively bar in Copacabana, famous for its exceptionally cold beers and prawn pastels. It gets crowded there every night, making every day of the week seem like the weekend.

Blue Agave (Ipanema)
Blue Agave in Ipanema is a great place for Mexican food, strong drinks and watching the latest domestic and international sports. They have English-speaking staff and is a popular expat hangout in Ipanema. Be sure to check out Blue Agave in Copacabana also for a great night out.

Flashback (Ipanema)
Flashback is a high-end restaurant with plenty of classical music and photos decorating the walls. Tonight, between 7PM and 9PM the restaurant will serve a happy hour with two for one on caipivodkas and Stella Artois. The caipivodkas are made fresh with either lime, strawberry or passionfruit as well as additional herbs added in for a taste explosion.
