Thursday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Tonight at Circo Voador in Lapa, Brazilian bandolinist Hamilton de Holanda will present a new edition of the Baile do Almeidinha event.
Holanda will be joined by his orchestra which features guitarist Rafael dos Anjo, acoustic bassist Guto Wirtti, percussionist Thiago da Serrinha, saxophonist and flautist Edu Neves, trumpeter Aquiles Moraes, drummer Xande de Figueiredo, and accordionist Marcelo Caldi.
Together, Holanda and orchestra will perform two live sets of classic Brazilian music including the works of Pixinguinha, Tom Jobim, and Paulinho da Viola, among others.
Additionally, for this edition Holanda will welcome special guests Arlindo Cruz, Paula Morelenbaum, Dora Morelenbaum, and Jaques Morelenbaum.
The Feijão Coletivo will perform to open and DJ Lencinho will spin during the night.

Tonight Steve Shelley and the Gata Pirâmide return to perform live at Audio Rebel in Botafogo. The Gata Pirâmide is a quartet formed by Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley and features Guilherme Valério, Paulo Kishimoto, and José Barrichello.
