Saturday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Tonight we pay tribute to one of Brazil’s most legendary artists, Raul Seixas, as Teatro Rival welcomes “Especial 24 Anos sem Raul Seixas”. This night will commemorate the 24th anniversary of the passing of one of the most influential and appreciated rock ‘n roll icons of Brazil, featuring his daughter, DJ and performer Vivi Seixas, plus the Carnival sensation, Toca Raul, as well as Sylvio Passos from São Paulo.

Raul Seixas is considered the “Father of Brazilian Rock”, with legions of fans and more than twenty full length albums under his belt. His musical style is mostly rock and ballad, although he wrote songs in many different styles, including variations of forró, baião, blues and much more.

Warming up will be Raul’s long time friend and fan club founder Sylvio Passos from São Paulo, with Raul’s favorite rock hits from his early days, followed by Raul’s daughter DJ Vivi Seixas, playing her favorite tunes from her father’s repertoire. She will then join Toca Raul, who will perform Raul’s music in their percussive, big band samba style.
