fabertaSunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Today the Antiga fábrica da Bhering will host the second day of Fábrica Aberta (Open Factory) event from 2PM to 9PM.

The event features vendors, artists and artisans including Café da Fábrica, Dudu Garcia, Adoro Adorno, Bel Magalháes, Fernando Gonçalves, and Fécula opening their doors to welcoming the public in to view behind the scenes of their work.

Addtionally during the day, there will be installations, performances, video installations, a screening of Emílio Domingos’s documentary “A Batalha do Passinho.”

Feijoada do Cosme Velho with Arruda (Cosme Velho)
The Cosme Velho Feijoada brings the best of samba, soccer (football) cold beer, caipirinha and feijoada to Zona Sul (South Zone) today from 12PM to 10PM. The group Arruda will perform live and and waiter service will be provided during the event.

Fábrica Aberta (Santo Cristo)
The doors remain open today at the Antiga fábrica da Bhering in Santo Cristo. In addition to a behind the scenes look at the shops and artists who work within the renovated factory, today there will be installations, performances, video installations and a film screeening.

Stryper (Lapa)
Christian glam-rock group Stryper has returned to Brazil and will perform live tonight at Circo Voador in Lapa. The American band rose to popularity in the mid-80s and are know for their songs “Honestly,” “Calling on You,” “Highway Star, ” and from their most recent album, “No More Hell to Pay,” among others.

O Rappa (Lapa)
Tonight Brazilian band O Rappa return to perform the second of their live back-to-back shows at Fundição Progresso in Lapa this weekend. The Latin Grammy nominated group is well known for fusing the sounds of reggae, rock, rap and samba. They have released six studio albums and several live albums.

Ivete Sangalo (Flamengo)
Tonight Ivete Sangalo also returns to perform the second of her back-to-back shows at Vivo Rio this weekend. Sangalo is currently on tour in celebration of the twentieth anniversary of her succesful career, a career so succesful, that it has earned her the reputation of one of the most well known axé singers in Brazil and the world.

Festa Barato (Centro)
Today beginnig at 3:30PM the free party, Festa Barato will take place at Arco do Teles in Centro. Thiago Burgos, Matheus Marins, Beto Costa and Rafael Martins will perform and VJ C. Lobo will provide visual projections. Promotions include three cans of beer for R$10 and a latão (big can) of Antática for R$5.

Philip Jeck (Ipanema)
English musician Philip Jeck will perform live tonight at Oi Futuro Ipanema tonight as part of the ongoing 2014 edition of the experimental music festival Novas Frequências.

Panel Discussion and Quintavant Ensemble (Botafogo)
This afternoon the 2014 edition of the experimental music festival Novas Frequências will also continue at Casa Daros in Botafogo.First there will be a panel discussion then more live performances. Beginning at 2PM, the discussion will feature: Coy Freitas, Carlos Eduardo Miranda, Dudu Marote of Skol Music, and Bernardo Oliveira of QTV. Novas Frequências co-creator, Chico Dub will mediate the discussion. Quintavant Ensemble with Cadu Tenório, Luca Pires, Eduardo Manso, Léo Monteiro, Felipe Zenícola, Alex Zhem, Paulo Caetano, Negro Leo, Marcus Thanus, Renato Godoy and Chelpa Ferro will perform at 3:30PM

Duo (Gávea)
It’s Sunday and that means it’s time to end your weekend with the best of house and electro pop at Duo in Gávea’s 00 (Zero Zero). The party begins early at 5PM and continues in the chic indoor/outdoor venue until 5AM. Things usually get started on the outdoor deck with DJs Fabiano Pax and Marcia Bertonni and then gradually shifts inside where DJs Mor Rafael Calvente and Dri Toscano usually spin. The weekly event is also known to host special guest DJs.

It’s time to dance as singer-songwriter Rogê returns for his weekly show at Lapa’s Carioca de Gema. The lively up-and-coming performer will present his own compositions as well as covers of works by Jorge, Djavan, and Jorge Benjor, among others.

Roda de Samba and Soccer (Football) (Lapa)
Sundays are all about samba and soccer at Lapa’s Leviano bar. Every week beginning at 4PM the venue plays live games on their screens with samba dancers following the matches and the group Samba Di Buteco playing classics of the genre, including works by Arlindo Cruz, Zeca Pagodinho and João Nogueira, among others. DJ Mukato will also spinning during the night.
