robertplantTuesday’s Rio Nightlife Pick – Touring in support of his tenth solo studio album, Lullaby and the Ceaseless Roar, British legend Robert Plant returns to Rio with his supporting band The Sensational Space Shifters to perform live at Citibank Hall in Barra da Tijuca tonight.

Opening the night will be American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Annie Clark, better known by her stage name St. Vincent. Praised by critics and known for her impressive guitar skills and for her quirky and witty lyrics, St. Vincent recently won the Grammy for Best Alternative Album for her fourth release entitled, St. Vincent.

Matriz Live Sessions with Dogs Face and Domestic Junkies (Botafogo)
The weekly ‘Matriz Live Sessions,’ were originally one of the first musical programs held at Casa da Matriz, one of the oldest music venues in Rio. The sessions have returned and are going strong. Tonight bands Dogs Face and Domestic Junkies will perform live.

Robert Plant & The Sensational Space Shifters and St. Vincent (Barra da Tijuca)
Tonight legendary British singer-songwriter Robert Plant will perform with The Sensational Space Shifters live at Citibank Hall. American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Annie Clark, better known by her stage name St. Vincent, will open the night.

The Bem Brasil party returns to 00 tonight with DJs spinning the best of Latin rhythms, reggaeton, cumbia, kuduro and hip-hop. Promotions include free caipirinhas until midnight. This weekly party is always a great opportunity to mix and mingle in one of the chicest venues in Rio.

Feel Leblon (Leblon)
The weekly Feel Leblon party is back at Sette Leblon bar and lounge tonight. Promotions include all you can drink caipirinhas until midnight and two for one beers all night long. DJs will keep the party going until 4AM as they spin the best of pop, house, reggaeton, hip-hop and more.

At 7:30PM, Karyme Branka will start off the night at Rio Scenarium with the best of classic samba. Joyce Cândido will follow at 10:30PM with more classic samba including her reinterpretations of works by Noel, Cartola, and Chico Buarque, among others.

PUBS & BARS:

Hellbenders, Café Republica and Language Exchange – Lapa Irish Pub (Lapa)
Tonight at Lapa Irish Pub, it’s time again for the Portuguese/English Language Exchange. Set up like speed dating, native English speakers will be paired with native Portuguese speaker at tables. The pairs will then speak English for five minutes followed by Portuguese for five minutes. After those ten minutes, each speaker will move on to a new table and conversation partner. It’s both a fun and educational night and the R$10 entrance cost includes free food. Additionally following the Language Exchange tonight, the heavy rock band Hellbenders will play, marking their first live performance in Rio de Janeiro. Café Republica will also perform live.

Lord Jim’s Pub (Ipanema)
Lord Jim’s Pub is the oldest pub in Rio and its well known for live music and promotional specials. During Happy Hours (6PM to 8PM) on Mondays through Fridays, the pub offers two for one draft beer. This is also a great place to watch live sports.

Mab’s Restaurant and Bar (Copacabana)
This American-owned restaurant and bar on Copacabana Beach is a great place for food, drinks and entertainment. Every night of the week, Tony Boka is performing live from 8PM until midnight. Boka is known for his varied repertoire that always pleases the crowd.

Shenanigan’s Live Music (Ipanema)
With live music and classic pub games like darts and pool, Ipanema’s Shenanigan’s is always a great spot to visit. Happy Hour is dose dupla (two for one) on Mondays through Fridays 6PM-8PM. Additionally, tacos are half-price on Tuesdays. This is another great place to watch live streaming sports.
