Bolivia reiterates priority of lithium industrialization

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The President of Bolivia, Luis Arce, yesterday announced an international call for bids on Direct Lithium Extraction and stressed that lithium is a priority for the economy and the State.

At the event, organized by state-owned company Yacimientos del Litio Bolivianos, the president announced that an industrialization strategy has been designed for the country’s bicentenary in 2025, which includes the execution of currently stalled projects.

Arce stressed that a strategic component has been added, consisting of direct lithium extraction technology that will enable innovation and accelerate inclusion of Bolivian industry at a global level.

He remarked that the 2021-2025 agenda for the country now gives priority to the industrialization of this metal (known as white gold). The President emphasized that Bolivia will mark a new milestone in the sovereignty of the administration of its natural resources, after having gone through an arduous path so that Bolivians can administer and benefit from these resources.

Representatives of companies such as Uranium 1G (Russia), Gangfeng Lithium (China) and EnergyX (United States), among others, took part in the launching of this international tender, reported Periódico Bolivia.
