Brazil opens its doors to European tourists with vaccine certificate
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Brazilian Tourism Agency (Embratur) said in a statement that the documents must be provided through a digital certificate from the European Union or be issued by a country on reciprocal terms with Brazil.
A year and a half ago, Brazil launched the “Responsible Tourism: Clean and Safe” campaign, with the aim of mitigating the impacts of the pandemic and preparing the sector for the gradual return of activities.

As a result of these efforts, it has ensured that it is ready to receive international tourists and to reach pre-pandemic tourism traffic levels, which generated some 6.19 million jobs.
Brazil is committed to welcoming all travelers safely, particularly Spaniards, ranked 11th in terms of entries into the country. In 2019 alone, the country received over 145,000 Spanish tourists.
“We want tourists to travel in a safe environment. This is a priority for us. Therefore, ecotourism and nature are great trends for the recovery of the sector,” Embratur president Carlos Brito said. “We have destinations such as the Amazon and other places with vast preserved areas that allow for an unparalleled travel experience,” he added.
Currently, over 65% of the target population is fully immunized with the two doses and over 86% received the first dose. Health authorities have distributed more than 320 million doses since the start of vaccination.
