“We renovated it, brought it into operation, and the population may now have access to a quality cultural facility,” Paes said. Four to 5 sessions will be screened daily, with tickets starting at R$5 (US$0.92). The program will include films for different age groups.

The Mayor attended the ceremony with Secretary of Government and Public Integrity Marcelo Calero and RioFilme CEO Eduardo Figueira.

According to the City Hall, CineCarioca Nova Brasília is the only movie theater option in the area comprising the 15 favelas of Complexo do Alemão. These communities have a population of approximately 60,000.
