Brazil-UK partnership will provide services marketplace for micro and small businesses
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A partnership between the governments of Brazil and the UK, the Global Trade Hub project is financed by the Prosperity Fund, which has contributed R$18.6 (US$3.3) million so far. Brazil’s Economy and Foreign Affairs ministries, as well as Sebrae and Apex, are involved.
“It is an innovative initiative in Latin America,” said the Under Secretary for Foreign Trade Facilitation Glenda Bezerra Lustosa.

In the future, the platform will be integrated with the Single Foreign Trade Portal and the Paperless Port, and will also operate for other countries in the region. Thus, it will be similar to Singapore, considered the most advanced in offering its exporters the services and means to enable exports in a single place.
The project has been presented by the Brazilian government in a World Trade Organization (WTO) meeting, Lustosa said. The organization invited Brazil to support a document that encourages other countries to take a similar initiative.
The Global Trade Hub project was presented yesterday at the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP), as well as a new digital service in which companies fill out a questionnaire and learn about their degree of maturity to export and in which areas they need to improve in order to be successful.
This diagnosis indicates the necessary steps to be taken, explained the International Company Integration coordinator Victor Maselli Neto. In the future, this service will be integrated into the Hub so that, once the needs of companies applying for export have been identified, they will be directed to the environment in which they can access the services required.
