Brazilian federal deputy Hasselmann sustains fractures to face, spine and breaks teeth

In an interview with SBT, the deputy said she doesn't remember what happened. She suspects that she may have been the victim of an attack.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Federal deputy Joice Hasselmann (PSL) suffered a number of injuries last weekend in her government apartment in Brasilia. The deputy was watching TV on Saturday night, July 17, when she lost consciousness and woke up on Sunday in the bathroom in a pool of blood.

The legislator sustained five fractures to the face (two to the nose and others to the sinuses); she fractured a vertebra in her spine and broke two teeth. Her knees, rib area, and shoulder were bruised and purple.
