Brazil’s Azul and Emirates announce flight sharing agreement

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Azul and Emirates, the main airline of the United Arab Emirates, have announced the start of a flight sharing agreement.

The codeshare partnership between the companies begins this Wednesday, August 18, for customers flying as of August 25.

Initially, 8 routes will be offered, connecting passengers departing from and arriving in Guarulhos, São Paulo, to Cuiabá (MT), Santos Dumont (RJ), Belo Horizonte (MG), Curitiba (PR), Porto Alegre (RS), Recife (PE), Juazeiro do Norte (CE), and Belém (PA).

With this sharing arrangement, passengers check in once and check their baggage at origin to their final destination.

“We are very happy to announce this agreement with Emirates, which will provide excellent benefits and amenities to our customers, as well as access to a wide national and international network. We have great synergy with Emirates’ business,” said Azul’s vice-president of revenue Abhi Shah.

Emirates Commercial Director Adnan Kazim says that Brazil “is an important market for Emirates and the codeshare with Azul underscores our commitment to strengthen our presence in the country and increase the options for our customers.”
