Brazil’s domestic flights in August reach 70% of pre-pandemic scenario

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazilian airlines in August posted the fourth consecutive month of growth in the number of domestic flights, with an average of 1,680 daily departures, equivalent to 70% of the average number of flights in early March 2020, before the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic in the sector.

The results are from a survey conducted by the Brazilian Airline Association (ABEAR) based on data from the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). ABEAR’s president Eduardo Sanovicz says that Covid-19 vaccination is influencing demand in the airline industry.

“Vaccination is advancing, with a good part of people over 18 years of age now vaccinated with the first dose in several locations. The introduction of the vaccine to more groups is crucial for us to sustain this increase in numbers,” Sanovicz says.
