Brazil’s Santa Catarina monitoring station registers some 400 meteors and ‘fireball’ in one night

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Between Tuesday night and early Wednesday (28) the Monte Castelo meteor monitoring station in northern Santa Catarina recorded the passage of some 400 phenomena in the sky.

According to amateur astronomer Jocimar Justino, this was the highest number he has ever seen, and the two meteor showers forecast for this week contributed to the increase.

On this busy sky night, the record of a "fireball" meteor stood out the most.

Another explanation for the record number of meteors is the use of more sensitive cameras capable of identifying the phenomena crossing the sky in better detail . . .
