CNN to advertise Paraguay as safe tourist destination

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The initiative’s main goal is the economic recovery of the local tourism industry, one of the most severely affected by the pandemic, as it was the first to stop operating and the last to resume its activities.

SENATUR Minister Sofía Montiel stressed the need to promote the country’s position and continue with the process of reactivating the sector after the Covid-19 pandemic.

REACTIVATING THE SECTOR AND THE ECONOMY

“Our country needs this reactivation because tourism generates employment. We have hundreds of families waiting to welcome tourists to reactivate their economies,” she said in a television interview.

The “País Seguro” (Safe Country) advertising campaign is being developed with the slogan “Paraguay solo para vos” (Paraguay just for you), inviting tourists to feel part of the different tourist, natural, historical, cultural and ancestral attractions and resources it has to offer.

In line with the campaign, the Minister also announced the creation of a tourist guide in Spanish and French through a partnership between SENATUR and the private sector, to be produced by French journalist Bastien Poupat, who recently visited the country.

The foreign journalist toured the country for 40 days, for the 10th time, having been surprised with Paraguay’s tourism offer during his last visit, Montiel said.

Montiel emphasized that during the pandemic, 55 tourist establishments were opened and another 30 are in the process of opening, ranging from inns with personalized experiences, to lodging, camping and hotels.

During the pandemic, efforts were made to promote domestic tourism, so that local citizens could be part of the reactivation, and now with the improvement of epidemiological indicators and the relaxation of measures, the country is seeking to position itself as a tourist option at the international level, the Minister added.

These efforts to reactivate the tourism sector were recognized at the recent Fiexpo in Colombia, a tourism trade show featuring meetings, conferences and events , where SENATUR was awarded for its support to the tourism industry during the pandemic.
