Costa Cruises cancels its season in Uruguay and Argentina
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The cruise company claims to have worked together with the Brazilian authorities to organize the season, however, last minute delays in the approval of international cruises to Brazil have forced Costa Cruises to revise the itinerary of its Costa Fascinosa ship.
The obstacle for the season is that Brazil is still not allowing international navigation, as cruise ships are only authorized to operate in Brazilian jurisdictional waters.

In reference to Costa Cruises’ operation in Argentina, its country manager for Argentina and Latin America Fernando Joselevich stressed that “Ministry of Transport officials, particularly the Buenos Aires Port Comptroller, the Minister of Tourism and his team, the Argentine immigration authority and the Ministry of Health, through the Director of Border Health, have been at our company’s disposal.”
“Cooperating constantly and efficiently; creating the ideal conditions for Costa Cruises to operate in Argentina. Our goal was always to ensure the start of the season, by guaranteeing the ideal conditions to operate in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay, through our comprehensive health and safety protocols, just as they have been effectively implemented globally, however, the reasons stated force us to organize only a domestic season in Brazil,” Joselevich added.
The cruise company reported that it is advising travel agencies and travelers affected by this decision to reschedule future trips according to the terms and conditions of the purchase.
The company is now completing the new itinerary through Brazil, so that Argentine passengers who purchased the trip from Buenos Aires may, if they so wish, book the itinerary sailing from Brazil.
