Covid-19: Brazil São Paulo City Hall begins proceedings to dismiss unvaccinated employees

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – São Paulo Mayor Ricardo Nunes on Thursday, October 28, requested the preparation of an order to dismiss commissioned employees who have not been vaccinated against Covid-19. Civil servants will be the target of administrative proceedings.

In August, the municipal management issued a decree compelling all municipal administration employees to be immunized against the novel coronavirus, under penalty of sanctions.

The Mayor said that employees who refuse to take the vaccine endanger everyone’s health. The City Hall has been cross-referencing data to determine who has been vaccinated, with the support of the Administration and Finance Coordinators of each administrative unit in the City Hall. The Municipal Comptroller General yesterday sent Nunes the results of the first stage of this verification.
