Education Faces Challenges in Brazil

SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL - Investments in Brazil's education sector as a percentage of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) have increased from 5.8 percent to 6.1 percent between 2010 and 2011, according to a recent OECD report. However, Brazil still faces great challenges in improving the quality of education in the country.

The OECD report puts Brazil on the same spending level as developed nations like Italy and Switzerland, which spend both 4.7 and 6.1 percent, respectively.
