“I believe that this will have a favorable development. The assessment is underway and I believe that the concept of reciprocity between the states will be favorably considered. This is also important from a foreign policy perspective and not just from a vaccine standpoint,” Magrini said during a medical meeting in the country.

This is not the first time that officials from government agencies have said that they are considering the possibility of allowing entry of people who have taken these vaccines, particularly Chinese ones, as these immunizers are authorized for use by the World Health Organization (WHO), albeit not by the EMA.

However, in the case of the Sputnik V, neither agency has authorized the use of the vaccine.

Currently, in its “green pass” Italy accepts vaccines from Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, Oxford/AstraZeneca – including the one produced in Brazil by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) – and Janssen.
