RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - A drop in temperatures and rainfall were decisive for Paraguay to lower its wildfire record to 198 outbreaks in the past 12 hours. Twenty-four hours ago 1,062 outbreaks were active. In most of the country's departments, figures are now below 30 cases.
The area of greatest concern is now in second place in terms of outbreaks. Alto Paraguay took the lead, with 61 risk areas. The first department now registers 54. A little further away are Amambay with 27, Presidente Hayes with 24 and Boquerón with 23.
