Steel Cable in Amusement Park Tears and Causes Injuries in Suburb of Rio de Janeiro

Chairs crashed at the base of the ride. A young woman is still in hospital and will require surgery. Police will perform on-site forensics.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The civil police will perform a forensic examination at the Play Kid amusement park, in Praça dos Três Poderes, São João de Meriti, in Baixada Fluminense, where a steel cable burst in one of the rides, on Saturday night, July 6th, leaving several people injured.

The structure collapsed near the base of the ride, causing the chairs to plummet. As the chairs were at a low height, the accident was not more severe.

A young woman was hospitalized. According to relatives, she suffers multiple fractures to her nose and will require surgery . . .
