Submerged car with 6 dead youths found in Brazil’s Federal District

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The bodies of 6 young men were found on Sunday morning, September 5, inside a car, a red Gol, in a creek in the rural area of Luziânia, just outside the Federal District. The victims were aged between 15 and 28 years old, three young men and three teenagers.

A witness passing by said he saw the car upside down and rushed to the Fire Department for help. Another witness stated that the accident may have occurred at night, according to the fire department.

The car was upside down, half submerged, and stuck in a tree trunk near a wooden bridge. Divers found 6 victims inside the car.

The rescue team used an extrication device to remove the victims’ bodies that hada been trapped in the wreckage.

Relatives reported that the victims were heading for a weekend at Corumbá 3 Lake. The youths and teenagers were from the administrative region of Santa Maria, in the Federal District.
