Neymar Suspended for Three Matches for Punching a Supporter

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – On Friday, the French Football Federation (FFF) announced the penalty for Neymar for punching a fan on April 27th, after losing to Rennes in the French Cup final. The Paris Saint-Germain star will be suspended for three matches, starting next Monday.

As a result, the number 10 will be free to play against Angers on Saturday in the 36th and second last round of the French league. This will be the Brazilian’s last appearance for the French team this season.

The three matches Neymar will, therefore, be missing will be played against Dijon and Reims for the final two rounds of Ligue 1, as well as the French Super Cup which marks the season’s kick-off and is scheduled for October 3rd.

However, Paris Saint-Germain is to appeal to the FFF Disciplinary Committee. The club considers the penalty to be “severe “, given the insults uttered by the supporter in question to several players of the team managed by Thomas Tuchel.
