Another Street Dweller Set on Fire in São Paulo Capital

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In less than 15 days a new street dweller was found burned in São Paulo. On Sunday, January 19th, an unidentified man was found inside a bank branch in the Praça da Sé region, downtown.

According to the Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM), the man used the bank to spend the nights. There is still no information on whether the man was burned inside or outside the bank.

The circumstances and motivation for the crime will be investigated by the São Paulo Civil Police.

Another case

A previous victim is Carlos Roberto Viera da Silva, 39, who was sleeping under the marquee in front of a supermarket in the Mooca neighborhood, east side of São Paulo, when he was attacked by a man on January 5th.

He was the victim of an attack by fire. The crime occurred in the early hours of Sunday and was recorded by CCTV cameras. Police arrested a suspect.

The case is being recorded in the 8th Police District (Brás) and will be forwarded to the 1st Police Station (Sé), which will pursue the investigations. The team is looking for CCTV footage that may help clarify the facts.
