RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A man was shot three times by a neighbor in downtown São Paulo on Sunday, December 22nd.
Friends and witnesses claim that the shooter made homophobic insults before and after the shooting.
Police arrested pensioner Adel Abdo, 89, in the act. The case was recorded as attempted murder by the 2nd Police Precinct of Bom Retiro.
The incidents began on Saturday when the victim threw a party in the building where he lives in República, in the capital’s downtown area.
A party guest claims the pensioner threatened to “put a bullet” in the guests, that gays “must die” and that he refused to allow gays in his building.
“To be honest, the commotion only began because it was a party with gay people,” the victim’s friend Igor Fernandes says.
