São Paulo City Hall Decrees 3-Day Mourning for Novel Coronavirus Victims

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The mayor of São Paulo, Bruno Covas, has decreed three-day official mourning for the victims of the novel coronavirus pandemic. The city is the epicenter of the disease in Brazil and accounts for at least 1,035 deaths, according to the Municipal Health Secretariat.

The decision was published in the Municipal Gazette on Saturday, April 25th, when it came into effect.

The text justifies the decision as "an expression of deep regret for the deaths that occurred".
