Argentine agrotech platform lands in Paraguay, looking to expand to Brazil and U.S.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Ucrop.it digital platform, which adds value to sustainable farming practices by providing a traceable solution, announced its entry into a new market: Paraguay.

It thus begins its ambitious regional expansion plan, which also includes Brazil and the United States in the coming months.

“Paraguay is a country with strong agricultural production and public policies focused on sustainability, which is why Ucrop.it is welcomed by the agricultural sector. We began operations with a target campaign of 200,000 hectares and we are working with the producers in the field, offering all our experience to assist them in the process of showing how sustainable their operations are,” said the company’s co-founder and CIO Marcos Botta.

“Since August, farmers in Paraguay have been able to easily and quickly record their crops in a crypto-confidential blockchain from their cell phones, with free access and in the field, with no need for internet,” said Ucrop.it’s CEO.

The data collected are stored cryptographically, which guarantees better levels of security, confidentiality in the producer’s control and transparency in the processes, they added.

In addition, by uploading data, producers can access various ecosystems of prizes and benefits that reward the history of their crops by linking them with other players in the agricultural chain, based on the producer’s choice. As a result, they will be rewarded based on their efforts in uploading data from the field, providing feedback, and participating in the traceability and controlled production process.

“In Argentina, our client portfolio includes multinational agricultural companies, many of which are also joining us in this new stage in Paraguay. We have worked with a wide variety of producers in Argentina on over 300,000 hectares of the 2 million hectares managed by the platform, and we hope to soon reach these levels in Paraguay,” Botta added.

In order to meet the growing demand, Ucrop.it’s CIO and co-founder also stated that in the coming months more staff will be hired to “expand our sales force, and also to add resources to our team of agronomists; a key part of our system to be close to the producer’s farm.”
