Brazil Is Country with Third Highest Number of New Unicorns in 2019

The survey, conducted by the Crunchbase news site, shows that, in all, 142 companies around the world joined the list of unicorns in 2019.

These companies raised US$85.1 (R$340) billion – down from US$139 billion raised by new unicorns in 2018 and US$93.8 billion in 2017.
The United States ranks top of the list, closing 2019 with 78 new companies valued at more than US$1 billion.
Second place went to China with 22 new unicorns. Tied with Brazil in third place is Germany.
A unicorn is a privately held startup company valued at over US$1 billion. The term was coined in 2013 by venture capitalist Aileen Lee, choosing the mythical animal to represent the statistical rarity of such successful ventures.
