RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The triple camera and ultra-wide lens debut of the iPhone 11 Pro Max impressed many Apple lovers during its release in September. However, the innovation failed to get the upper hand in a test conducted by the specialized DXOMark website.

Within the criteria analyzed by the portal, the iPhone 11 Pro Max reached 117 points, ranking third – behind the Huawei Mate 30 Pro and Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro Premium, both with 121 points.
The research sought to compare issues such as camera performance, zoom, dynamic range and additional features among the main releases of recent times and made use of iOS 13.2 in the case of Apple. The iPhone 11 Pro Max has three 12-megapixel resolution sensors, one of which is an angle lens (f/1.8), a telephoto lens (f/2) and an ultra-wide lens (f/2.4).
DXOMark’s compliments include the iPhone’s dynamic photographic range and detail retention, fast autofocus, and video stabilization provided by the release. In addition, the test found a significant improvement in the amount of visible noise compared to photos taken with the iPhone XS, its predecessor. When it came to video recording, the handset also stood out, featuring wide HDR dynamic range and “great” details in shadow highlighting.
Among the negative aspects mentioned by the study are long-range zoom details (considered lower than the Huawei competitor), instability in mapping some areas in the sky or in reflective materials, and the bokeh effect of the device’s camera, which presented errors in estimating the depth around the hair of the person being photographed.
Finally, other tests performed by the portal entail the audio and video quality of devices. In the first test, the iPhone 11 Pro came first by scoring 71 points. The iPhone 11 Pro Max scored 102 overall points for video, tied with the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro Premium Edition.
