RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A new startup jumped to the top of the most desirable to work for in the annual LinkedIn ranking of Top Startups in 2020.

Ahead of ranking veterans such as Loft, Neon, and Loggi, the company that conquered the top of the ranking is in the food and beverage area, Menu.

Founded in 2016 and with 150 employees, the startup supplies restaurants and links distributors to commercial establishments. During the pandemic, the business grew to such an extent that the company established its own warehouse, operation, and distribution network.

Nubank, which ranked first for two years, did not make the list this year for not meeting one of the requirements.

In this year’s edition, LinkedIn considered data from January to July to build the ranking. To be eligible, companies must be seven years old at most, employ 50 or more staff, be based in Brazil, and be independent and private.

Nubank, which ranked first for two years, did not make the list this year for not meeting one of the requirements.

The ranking considers four pillars: growth in the number of employees, engagement, interest in positions, and attraction of great talent.

The social media team also considered if companies dismissed staff. Those dismissing 20 percent or more of its team became ineligible.

Second in the ranking, Loft is two years old, is now a unicorn, and has continued to grow during the pandemic. Its co-founder Mate Pencz projects a 30 percent increase in real estate transactions in September.
