Waze Displays Fees for Brazilian Tolls on Users’ Planned Routes

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Waze announced this week that it is providing an alert with the toll rates for Brazil’s routes. The feature was introduced internationally in July this year and is starting to show to all Brazilian users who run the app on an Android smartphone or tablet, in addition to the iPhone or iPad.

“We are very happy to be able to bring Toll Rates to Brazil. No one knows more about the fees for each toll than drivers who pass through them daily. Therefore, the information coming from users is extremely valuable and further emphasizes that Waze is for people and the community,” says Leandro Esposito, general director of Waze for Brazil.

As with gas station pricing, the fee for each toll post is entered into the App with the help of the user community itself. Waze states that currently there are 30,000 people who contribute monthly to the editing of maps, either in terms of fees or even to correct streets that have changed their name or direction.

The fee warning counts up all tolls on the route and shows the total fee, right after the destination address has been entered and the route suggested. As there is more than one amount, with respect to the type of vehicle, the sum will be in line with the user’s choice in the settings and from there the app can be told if it is a car, a motorcycle or a taxi. The option for trucks, which are charged differently (the fee varies by the number of axles), is not yet available.

The novelty began to be implemented on Tuesday, October 29th, and will automatically be displayed to all users over the next few weeks.
