Brazil’s Americanas Delivery launched, pledges up to 30-minute service
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The dispute for the fastest delivery time to customers’ homes gained a new dimension on Monday, July 19. Americanas launched its own delivery platform: Americanas Delivery app, which guarantees grocery and restaurant deliveries in up to half an hour. The tool can now be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play Store.

Americanas delivers grocery items
Americanas Delivery works as a mini app within the retailer’s main application; a strategy to leverage the 4.6 billion annual visits to the platform, with a base of 48 million active customers.
The tool promises deliveries of convenience items, including supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, gifts, pet shops, among others, in a 30-minute time average.
The company says that Americanas Delivery will inaugurate its operation in Espírito Santo, in cities such as Vitória, Serra, Vila Velha and Guarapari – a base established by Shipp, a delivery startup acquired by Americanas -, and in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro.
Also in 2021, Americanas intends to expand the more agile delivery model to other cities in Brazil, such as Joinville (Santa Catarina), and to the ABC Paulista region (São Paulo). The company has probed 22 cities to receive Americanas Delivery next year – and hopes to close 2022 with customers in 100 urban centers.
In addition to pledging to deliver the product to customers’ doorsteps within an average time of 30 minutes, Americanas Delivery says deliveries can be scheduled.
Americanas Delivery director Tomas Scopel celebrated the app’s launch which should connect customers “to supermarkets, restaurants, pharmacies and other establishments,” and said delivery time will benefit from the retailer’s over 1,700 physical stores.
