Tonight belongs to Bad Bunny. The Puerto Rican superstar makes his Brazilian debut at Allianz Parque after a record-breaking Super Bowl halftime performance and three Grammy wins in 2026. Expect the area around Água Branca to be gridlocked from mid-afternoon — the Metrô Line 3-Vermelha to Palmeiras-Barra Funda is the safest bet. Tomorrow the Desfile das Campeãs brings nine schools back to Anhembi, and the Paulistão knockout stage kicks off with four matches across Saturday and Sunday. The Ibovespa’s run to within 1,165 points of its all-time high underscores the foreign capital wave that has defined 2026 so far.

\n

Ibovespa: closed at 188,534 (+1.35%) — second-highest close in history, just below the 189,699 record (Feb 11). Petrobras led gains on oil-price surge (US-Iran tensions)

\n

USD/BRL: R$5.227 (-0.25%). Dollar resting near 9-month low as foreign inflows continue. Dow Jones -0.54%, S&P 500 -0.28%, Nasdaq -0.31%

\n

Selic: 15.00%. Copom next meets March 18–19 — market expects rate cuts to begin. Boletim Focus IPCA 2026: 3.95%

\n

IBC-Br (BC’s GDP proxy): December fell 0.2% m/m, better than the -0.5% consensus. Supports the soft-landing narrative

\n

Foreign inflows: R$33+ billion YTD into Brazilian equities (vs R$25.4 billion for all of 2025). Rotation into emerging markets continues

\n

\n

Market context: The Ibovespa bounced back from three consecutive losses with its second-strongest close ever. Oil-driven gains in Petrobras and Vale led the charge, while the dollar held near R$5.22 as foreign capital continued to flow into Brazilian equities. The IBC-Br reading was better than expected, reinforcing expectations of a Selic cut in March. US markets fell on US-Iran geopolitical tensions that paradoxically boosted Brazilian energy stocks. Today is the third full trading session since Carnaval.
